CORONADO
Coronado (approx. 60,000 inhabitants) is located just 10 kilometers northeast of the
center of San José on the outskirts of the Braulio Carrillo nature reserve. Living in
Coronado provides you with all the advantages of a clean natural area, and at the
same time it gives you the opportunity to enjoy the cultural activities of the capital city.

Green Coronado is a lively rural city with an active community life. It is the seat of
numerous respected institutions, such as the Interamerican Institute for Agriculture
(IICA), the Center for Central American Social Studies (ICAES), the Costa Rican
Olympic Committee, and the world-famous snake research center of the University of
Costa Rica, the Instituto Clodomiro Picado. Here you can also find everything for
your day-to-day needs: modern supermarkets, a Sunday market, doctors, banks,
traditional sodas, and even pizzerias and American-style restaurants. A large gothic
cathedral towers over Coronado.
