Learn Spanish and surf in our total immersion experience on the West Coast of Coast Rica in the famous beach town, Playa Tamarindo, which has attracted surfers from all over the world for decades. Playa Tamarindo was made famous by the 1994 classic surfing movie, Endless Summer II, which explored the popularity and evolution of surfing.

Playa Tamarindo has long been known as the surfing capital of Costa Rica because of the consistent large breaking waves of El Estero, a river-mouth break where the Tamarindo Estuary enters the ocean and Pico Pequeno, a lava finger reef which offers near-perfect swells. The areas around Playa Tamarindo offer world class surf breaks for surfers of all skill levels. Some of the most popular local surfing locations include Playa Langosta, Playa Grande, Playa Avellanas and Witch's Rock which are located only 30-45 minutes from our Spanish language school.

Playa Tamarindo has a population of 3,525 and swells to 5,000 during tourist season. This beach city is the most accessible surfing location along the northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica because it is only 45 minutes to the new International Airport in Liberia, Costa Rica, the Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, which handles international flights from a variety of carriers. There is also a scheduled daily bus service to and from San José, Costa Rica.

Learn Spanish & Surf's Total Immersion Course is located in the heart of Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Within minutes from our school, students can walk into the town and explore the shops or, they can also walk along the beaches. Currently, the classes are being held in a new custom-built facility that is ideally suited for small groups and private language instruction. The top floor of the building is used by students to enjoy their breaks and learn about various cultural activities. Around the classrooms and residences, students enjoy well-maintained tropical gardens that provide the perfect atmosphere for those who want to study and learn Spanish in Playa Tamarindo.

For students who prefer not to live with one of our wonderful host families, our school has many student residences that are air conditioned and equipped with cable TV and high-speed Internet connections, so bring your laptop.
