SPANISH COURSES
Coronado
(A) Main Group course
20 units of 45 minutes each, per week, in groups of 6 or less students.
Duration: 1 to 34 weeks.
6 levels: beginner to advanced.
General language course: reading, speaking, pronunciation, listening
comprehension, grammar, vocabulary expansion, Middle American culture.
Lessons: Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a 30-minute break. If
there is only one participant for a given level, that participant will receive 15 units of
private instruction per week instead of 20 units of group instruction.



(B) Intensive Group course
30 units of 45 minutes each per week in groups of 6 or less students.
Duration: 1 to 34 weeks.
6 levels: beginner to advanced.
General language course: You follow Standard course A and receive 2 additional
units of group instruction Monday to Friday. No new grammar is introduced here;
instead, you do in-depth exercises to reinforce the material you worked on in the
morning.
Lessons: Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with two 30-minute breaks.
If there is only one participant for a given level, that participant will receive 21 units
of private instruction per week instead of 30 units of group instruction.

Mini groups with experienced teachers
Beginner, intermediate and advanced classes


(C) Combination Course (20 + 5)
20 group lessons, plus 5 private ones of 45 minutes each per week to work on
individual weaknesses/needs.
Duration: 1 to 34 weeks.
6 levels: beginner to advanced.
Lessons: Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. with two 30-minute breaks.



(D) Intensive Combination Course (20 + 10)
30 units of 45 minutes each per week, 20 of those units in Mini-Group A and 10
additional units of private instruction, either in general Spanish or technical
terminology.
Duration: 1 to 34 weeks.
6 levels: beginner to advanced.
Lessons: Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with two 30-minute breaks.
We recommend a crash course of private instructions if you only have 1 or 2 weeks
available for a language course.



(E1) Private Instruction
20 lessons of 45 minutes each per week, either in general Spanish alone or in
combination with technical terminology.
Duration: of 1 to 8 weeks.
All levels.
Lessons: from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Depending on private teacher availability some private lessons might be scheduled
during the afternoons.




(E2) Private Instruction
30 lessons of 45 minutes each per week, either in general Spanish alone or in
combination with technical terminology.
Duration: of 1 to 8 weeks.
All levels.
Lessons: from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.



(E3) Private Instruction
40 lessons of 45 minutes each per week, either in general Spanish alone or in
combination with technical terminology.
Duration: of 1 to 8 weeks.
All levels.
Lessons: from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Private instruction for professionals. One-on-one setting is ideal for professionals
that need to improve their language skills to work in a Spanish speaking country.
Special courses can be given with terminology in many fields such as: medical,
education, general business, environmental, scientific, law, etc.



Course F
DELE Exam preparation course
(Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera)

30 units of 45 minutes each per week in groups of 6 or less students.
Duration: 8 or 12 weeks just before an exam date.
6 levels: beginner to advanced.
Course content: Most class material is selected having in mind that students are
preparing for the DELE exam. Class examples are similar to exam questions.
Practice exams are done during the course.
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8:00a.m. to 1:30p.m. with two 30-minute breaks. If
there is only one participant for a given level, that participant will receive 21 units of
private instruction per week instead of 30 units of group instruction.



Course G
Interactive Spanish Course “Pura Vida”
Spanish and Fun in tropical Costa Rica

Course designed for those that prefer learn with hands on experience rather that in-
classroom work. An activity based course with 10 lessons and 8 activities per week.

Duration: for 2 weeks with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 participants.
6 levels: beginner to advanced.
8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. 2 x 45 minutes, Spanish lessons
9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. break
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. learning by doing activities
12:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. lunch break



NEW Course H
Parent & child Course

This course creates an experiential setting that in addition to develop Spanish
proficiency offers ecotouristic and cultural experiences to parents interested in
sharing them with their 10 to 16 year old kids. An activity based course with 10
lessons, 5 cultural and 2 fun activities per week.

Duration: for 2 weeks with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 participants.
6 levels: beginner to advanced.
Schedule: Monday to Friday.
8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. 2 x 45 minutes, Spanish lessons
9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. break
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. learning by doing activities
12:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. lunch break
Monday and Wednesday
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. – cultural activities



Course I
Internship Program at private companies and social institutions

College students can join this program to gain valuable work experience with
private companies in one of many fields of study. Interns will work next to Costa
Rican professionals inside private companies that accept Academia Tica`s
applicants.

Runs from a minimum of 8 weeks
Duration: from 8 to up to several months.
6 levels: Intermediate I to advanced.

Schedule: Monday to Friday. Most companies start at 7:30am and close at 5pm.



Course J
Volunteering Program at national parks, social institutions and farms.
Spanish Language students over 18 years of age can join this program.

Here students can gain valuable work experience and help save our natural
treasures living at a National Park or helping a needy sector of the population at a
social institution or learn organic or other agricultural techniques at a farm.

Duration: from 2 to up to several months.
6 levels: Beginner II to advanced.

Schedule: Monday to Friday. Most institutions start at 7:30am and close at 5pm.,
but volunteer schedule is somewhat negotiable.
