Learn Spanish and Earn College or University Credit
All students at our Spanish immersion program in Tamarindo, Jaco, and Coronado
have the ability to earn academic credit for Spanish courses in Costa Rica.
The undergraduate credit for your Spanish classes are offered through Brookhaven
College in Dallas, Texas. This institution is accredited by SACS, the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools.
These are undergraduate Spanish credits for degree seeking college and university
students wanting to fulfill their home institution's Spanish requirements.
Obtaining advance approval from your home institution is necessary, as each district,
college, university, or state has its own policies regarding the types of Spanish course
credit it will accept.
Our Spanish Programs
You can choose from any of the following Spanish course options:
Standard Spanish Program
20 Spanish lessons per week. 55 minutes per class. Max 6 students per class
Duration: From 1 week up to a period of months. Your choice.
9 levels: Beginner to advanced.
Description: This Spanish language program consists of classes with a maximum of
6 students per teacher. Spanish courses are held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and
are composed of a combination of conversational grammar and practical
conversation and/or lectures.
Intensive Spanish Program
30 Spanish lessons per week. 55 minutes per class. Max 6 students per class
Duration: From 1 week up to a period of months. Your choice.
9 levels: Beginner to advanced.
Description: The perfect Spanish program for someone who prefers a more
intensive Spanish language course. The format is the same as the Standard
Program. The difference is that under this option you will receive an additional 2
hours per day of instruction in the afternoon. Courses are held from 8:00 a.m. to
12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Private Spanish Program
20-35 Spanish lessons per week. 55 minutes per class. Max 1 student per class
Duration: From 1 week up to a period of months. Your choice.
9 levels: Beginner to advanced.
Description: If you have little time available or prefer something very intensive, then
please consider taking private Spanish language courses. If you are taking a group
class and would like to add a few hours per day to your Spanish program this is
possible.
If you prefer to have your entire course utilizing private instruction that is possible as
well. You can choose from 4-7 hours per day of private instructions. Private
instruction can be utilized to cover general or specialized Spanish language topics.
Spanish & Surf Program

You also will receive surf lessons along with surf board rental.
Duration: From 1 week up to a month. Your choice.

Description: This program consists of classes with a maximum of 6 students per
teacher. Courses are held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and are composed of a a
combination of conversational grammar and practical conversation and/or lectures.
Surf Portion: Surf board rental is included in the cost of the program. The first 2
weeks you will receive (in addition to the board rental) 6 hours of surf instruction.
Surf classes are provided by local surf professionals. On weeks 3 and 4 you will get
one surf trip to a location outside of Tamarindo, Jaco, or Coronado (with surf board
rental).
Methodology
Learn Spanish & Surf Partnership School offers a variety of well thought out courses.
The methodology utilized for teaching Spanish is referred to as the Communicative
Approach. This teaching style encourages student interaction. You might say that you
learn more because you learn better. The program consists of a variety of interesting
and interactive exercises created to encourage you to practice the Spanish language
in a real life setting.
We feel this approach helps to build your confidence, which in turn increases your
motivation to learn more.
The foundation of the Spanish language classes consist of a combination of
exercises, role playing, reading, conversation, and grammar. Each Spanish teacher
will then customize a program based upon the level of the participants in the class.
