We have a nice student hostel located right at the school. Overall this is probably the most popular accommodation choice for younger students. Important Note: It is important to register early due to the fact that space in the residence is limited and so it fills up fast! The Residence consists of 4 large apartments. Each apartment has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, a kitchen, small eating area and a large living room. Our students at the residence will share a bedroom with other students and also the common areas. Each apartment is completely furnished and each kitchen is fully stocked so that you can cook your own meals. From a comfort standpoint you will enjoy the fact that each apartment has air conditioning. The student hostel is only 5-10 minutes walking from the beach areas. You could not ask for a more central location! Our hostel is the perfect option for students who do not want to stay with a host family, enjoy sharing an apartment with other Spanish students, and want to be close to the beach in Tamarindo. The amenities of each of the apartments can best be described as basic but nice. We would classify the apartments as having the feel of a nice hostel or college dorm. The residence has Air Conditioning, Cable TV and Wireless Internet. Home-Stay Option We have carefully selected a number of families to help make your stay enjoyable. Typical families will host one to two students at a time. Each student will receive his/her own room and will get two meals per day (breakfast and dinner). Additionally each student will get a key to allow them to come and go as they please. The home-stays can be considered relatively small and basic. However do not let this deter you Costa Ricans are well known for their hospitality! Key Reasons Why Host Families Help Enhance the Total Immersion Experience Host families are generally located near the language school which makes it a convenient location for the student. The families have also been prescreened by the language school to assure the student's comfort. A student has a chance to see the daily routines of a Spanish family as well as their food choices and ways of food preparation, celebrations, beliefs, habits, and chores. This rich experience deepens their understanding of Spanish people and their culture. When traveling to a new culture, the opportunity for staying with a host family increases a student's sense of safety and security and enhances their chances for meeting other people in the host family's community. In most cases, host families provide some meals and laundry services. Host families are eager to share information about holidays, history, and local lore. Most host families speak the language of the 'middle class' of their area which offers an opportunity to hear the language most spoken by locals. |
